TAGREE, the online magazine for photography & art, is organizing a photo festival in Gauting, Munich area: the GAUTING INTERNATIONAL PHOTO WEEK in autumn 2020 in cooperation with the Kunstverein Gauting e.V.. Ligin Lee Monitor Slideshow

  • Opening Gauting International Photo Week, “In a world of dreams” Monitor slideshow with photographs by Ligin Lee: September 27, 2020: 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm
  • City Hall Gauting, Bahnhofstr.7 , 82131 Gauting

The monitor slideshow shows about 20 photo artworks by Ligin Lee. The slideshow can be seen until the end of the main exhibition in the town hall. The surreal images are taken from the dreams of the Taiwanese artist, Ligin Lee. The dream worlds reflect her feelings, her emotions, her life experience. For one picture she uses her own photos and mixes them with different manipulation/montage techniques.

Ligin Lee was born in Taiwan in Miaoli County, a place near the sea. At the age of four she moved with her parents to Taipei. In her youth, she was influenced by Western art and trained in the printing industry. In her art she always longed for a pure, beautiful world.

At the age of 55, after graduating from the Institute of Visual Arts of Taipei City University, she created more works of art that take human life as their starting point. In her paintings she showed the meaning of life, the reality seen and undermined by the eyes. She created new visual concepts that wander between self-expression and the subconscious. During her process of creation she talked to herself and found that creation was a reaction to her current emotions. Sometimes singing, sometimes reciting, sometimes examining. Unconsciously a window of the soul seemed to open. “On the one hand we build up, on the other hand we dismantle ourselves and then redesign. It is like a journey, but also a way forward.”

  • Monitor Slideshow until 16.10.2020 in the City Hall of Gauting.

In a way, the circus is the contemporary Real-Time-Real-Avengers-Marvel-Comic-Version of the theatre – not necessarily in its lightness or playfulness, but in the fact that there are people, extraordinary people and superheroes who do things that are not normal – and yet they are ordinary people.

Not only comics but also elements from other art forms inspire the art of circus: the movement, the intelligence, the performance practice, the improvisation of dance and physical theatre, the telling of stories and the contemporary abstract structures of modern contemporary theatre, the musicality, the structural life, and the mere ability to generate deep emotions from abstract relationships and harmonic tensions that can be found. All these factors become a kind of energy that flows into and absorbs the circus work, crystallizing and pushing it to the top.

So in a way, Heinz Innerhofer’s photos are a fusion of different genres, where the dancers, the music by their precision and, by contrast, the blurred to unrecognizable photographs form a peculiarity and togetherness.

Anyone can take pictures today. The photographic art is completely different. Here an image conveys something that can be understood and felt by everyone in the world. This requires a photographer who not only selects his motifs, but also feels them. Jörg Erbar has this gift and skill. When he catches people in landscapes or cities as if by chance. Shadow-like beings, stripped of their individuality. Or when he depicts buildings and alienates them in such a way that they become metaphors of human urbanity with their brilliance and coldness and uniformity. (Katia Franke)

PHOTO ART AND ENVIRONMENT – ENVIRONMENTAL ART AND CLIMATE CHANGE – CULTURAL CHANGE

“While science is able to analyse phenomena and develop forecasts, art can make climate change tangible through the senses. Its creative and visionary potential can open up new perspectives and can sensitize the viewer to values that lie beyond increasing prosperity and economic growth. “People are not reached by images of catastrophes,” says artist and communication scientist Barbara Dombrowski, “they may frighten us, but they don’t really touch us.

“Art, however, can stimulate dialogues, can tell stories, irritate and connect those affected in North and South. For this reason, from my position and function as municipal environmental officer, I welcome and support the combination of scientific knowledge and sensual and haptic representation – especially when it comes to this topic, which is as existential for us as humans and humanity as the current climate change and its effects”.

Before his career as a photographer, reading history books was one of his great passions. All the years of studying and reading – and even later – in his young career as a photographer, these experiences were invaluable to him. “My interest in photography and film began at a young age, and in the 90s I shot Super 8 films and experimented. I must admit that the darkroom scared me a little at the time, and it was only later, with the advent of digital photography, that my interest really began to take off”.

Connected, disconnected, reconnected…delirium in a world where everything moves fast, very fast, too fast! After the Day-lirium your smartphone is not what it used to be for you.
The society, the media and the world we live in are the most important source of inspiration for Hajime Art. What distinguishes him from other artists is his black humour. He portrays the modern, hyper-networked, consumer-oriented, materialistic society and his relationship to it. All his creations are realized exclusively in his house (cellar, garage, bedroom), alone or with his wife. He sets the stage, sets up his camera, his wife releases the shots. All the utensils he uses for his art he gets from recycling yards, from charities or collects them himself in nature. Then he changes and transforms them.

Canadian photographer Daniel Castonguay based in Montreal is a true master of capturing the life and soul of the streets. Living in a busy area, he was naturally driven to street photography, with the goal of chronicling quotidian life and human nature. He started photography in 1979. Laureate of the prestigious Fine Art Photo Award of the year 2019 at the Monovisions Photography Awards in London, Daniel has been published more than 30 times in 17 countries. Daniel admits that his particular style is greatly influenced by the Masters Leonard Misonne, Alfred Stieglitz and Saul Leiter who knew, each in their own way and using special techniques, how to represent the atmosphere of the moment in order to bring life to their imagery. As Daniel says, “Being a street photographer is above all playing a role in the urban life framework, contribute to its vivacity, its pace and almost belonging to a chaotic scenario. To me, street photography is more than a “picture making business“, it’s being part of a continuous theatrical sketch where I play the role of a silenced character.”
