Salty Places by Bettina Gouchet

Though having an education in photography, Bettina Gouchet is working as a librarian in a school. That might have something to do with the fact that her photos are like literature. She is an author, writing with light. Her conception of Art is based on the use of images of magical landscapes. She looks for particularly raw sites, exposed to winds, where human presence is rare or even absent. Against these natural settings, somehow almost archaic landscapes, elements such as stones, wood, crystals are added in her texts.

She usually travels about twenty kilometres. Afterwards, she goes to a café, and there, she has the feeling to have dreamed, the agitation of the world takes again its ordinary place…

Lumière lointaine compressée by Bettina Gouchet

Strangely, the emptiness is a source of fullness and serenity: thoughts come and go like the sand of the winds and waters. It’s a kind of intimacy with nature. In her eyes. nature is shaped with art, and the result is a striking visual: the sounding tables seem to resound and the Mother Water vibrates with her intense salt, a recurrent element in Gouchet’s pictures. Salt is a gift from Mother Nature for humans. Positive and essential. And for Gouchet, it’s no less than a work of art.

Dernier blok by Bettina Gouchet

“I am looking for particularly raw sites, exposed to winds, where human presence is discreet or even absent.”

“Nature is shaped with art, and the result is a striking visual: the sounding tables seem to resound and the Mother Waters vibrate with their intense salt, helped by the hammer mills. Symbolically, salt is very positive and essential to life, so it caught my attention”.

“To the natural settings, in a way, almost archaic landscapes … Finally, this emptiness is a source of fullness and serenity: thoughts come and go to the sand of the winds and waters. It’s a kind of intimacy with nature”.
