Jakob Kiefl lives in Munich, but he is not really an urban dweller. Because of the proximity to the Alps, he has spent much of his life there. That’s why he has a passion not only for skiing but also a love for landscape photography. As a consequence, a camera with a telephoto lens could no longer be absent in his backpack.
His favorite motive is a landscape with touring skis far away from any civilization, preferably just one skier, no lifts, no other people and untouched snow. So simple but so much dynamic. The movement, the speed of the skier, the burst of snow is in total contrast to the tranquil white scenery of the winter Alps.
Jacob has captured those moments with so much detail and passion. And we, the audience, can feel both the excitement of the skiing activities and the calmness of this special white atmosphere.
“A pair of skis are the ultimate transportation to Freedom”― Warren Miller
“For me, personally, skiing holds everything. I used to race cars, but skiing is a step beyond that. It removes the machinery and puts you one step closer to the elements. And it’s a complete physical expression of freedom..” ― Robert Redford
“Well, I know now. I know a little more how much a simple thing like a snowfall can mean to a person” ― Sylvia Plath
