Leica Galleries: Exhibition in Frankfurt

Leica Camera shares a passion for creative photography at a high level with many people around the world. That is why it has always been of great importance to Leica to make such photographic works and their creators accessible to others who appreciate them. After all, the name Leica also stands for a very special image culture. For decades now, Leica has been offering well-known Leica photographers as well as up-and-coming new talents the opportunity to present their works to a wider public for precisely this reason. The Leica Galleries were established as the ideal forum for this purpose. Their tradition dates back to the 1970s. The first Leica Gallery was founded in Wetzlar in 1976 and is now located at the headquarters of Leica Camera AG. Other galleries followed, and today Leica Galleries can be found in many parts of the world.

HOLGER SÀ, JÜRGEN SCHADEBERG, KAI PFAFFENBACH, KURT HUTTON, MATHIEU BITTON, MICHAEL FRIEDEL, THOMAS HOEPKER, TORSTEN ANDREAS HOFFMANN, WALTER VOGEL, WERNER BISCHOF - WINTER COLLECTION 2021

"The Greatest of all time" Muhammad Ali accompanied by Magnum photographer Thomas Hoepker, Nelson Mandela, symbolic figure for the freedom struggle of the black population in South Africa, whom Jürgen Schadeberg, who passed away last year, saw through his lens for decades, but also the first division soccer team Eintracht Frankfurt during their probably most formative matches, photographed by Holger Sà, as well as Torsten A. Hoffmann's architectural contrasts of the cities Frankfurt and New York are part of the Winter Collection 2020/21.

These and other special photographs by the reportage and street photographers Kai Pfaffenbach, Kurt Hutton, Régis Bossu and Werner Bischof invite you to take an extensive tour through moving and long-forgotten times.

Mathieu Bitton, Michael Friedel and Walter Vogel complement the exhibitions with their portrayals of well-known personalities. An exhibition that recalls moments steeped in history, but also the very current time when it was carefree to meet people: at concerts, dates for an espresso in a crowded city café, visits to stadiums and hairdressers, and much more.
