A face fascinates, reveals and unveils. It has many facets, poses riddles, tells a story, provides insights, shows facets of a subjective view. Faces are monotypes and therefore unique. In the current series Faces, Susanne Kotrus deals with monotypes. Instead of paper or canvas, monotypes are drawn or painted on glass, acrylic or metal plates. The wet colour is then printed directly onto the paper. Only one print is produced - a monoprint.
“The face is a picture of the mind with the eyes as its interpreter.”

“Age should not have its face lifted, but it should rather teach the world to admire wrinkles as the etchings of experience and the firm line of character.”
Clarence Day
Susanne Kotrus
Susanne Kotrus has always painted and tried out many things: Acrylic painting, nude drawing, calligraphy, action painting and various printing techniques. Susanne is inspired by the everyday and the seemingly banal, by architecture and everything that catches her eye on closer inspection. Active seeing is called for here.
