Hans Karuga shows in his photo series "Reflections" the special aesthetics of sun and light on moving water surface of the river Würm. Captured are moments as they can hardly be perceived in real life, is the beauty of nature from a new perspective. The photographs lead the viewer into an unknown world of shapes and colors. Taken at close range, just above the water surface, they show reflections of nature, the sun, the sky and clouds on the moving river. Sunbeams laser wild lines and interference on dancing waves, clouds immerse the subject in soft contours and delicate colors.
Reflections by Hans Karuga
In the familiar biotope of the river Würm a world of images unfolds to the photographer in the interplay of day and seasons, weather and water level, which inspires mental long-distance journeys. The photographs were taken over a period of two years, on the banks of the river between Gauting and Leutstetten in Upper Bavaria.
Reflections by Hans Karuga
Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can’t go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.
