Winner of the “Visa d’or News Award Year 2021” is an Anonymous Photographer from Myanmar
Every year, the best reportages from all over the world are awarded at "Visa pour l'Image". For the Visa d'or News Award, the Visa d'or Feature Award and the Ville de Perpignan Rémi Ochlik Award of the "International Festival of Photojournalism", photo editors and deputy photo editors make a selection from all the reportages (published and unpublished) of the past year and choose four nominees per category. A second jury meets in Perpignan to decide the winners of each Visa d'or award (news, feature and daily press).
For the second time, the Département Pyrénées-Orientales, which aims to support the festival in actions and activities within the framework of the department's cultural policy, is funding the prize money of 8,000 euros for the winner of the Visa d'or News Award. This prize was awarded during the film screening on Saturday 4 September 2021 at the Campo Santo.
The winner of the Visa d'or News Award Year 2021 is an Anonymous photographer in Myanmar for the New York Times: Myanmar's "Spring Revolution".
Mikko Takkunen, the Asia photo editor of The New York Times, accepted the award on behalf of the photographer.
